About ReUsies

At the start of the new school year we realized that our families were going through an average of 10 plastic bags per day between school and work lunches. We do our best to reuse and recycle in other areas of our lives, but there didn’t seem to be a solution to the plastic sandwich bags we were using.

We developed ReUsies for their waste-free quality, but many customers primary reason for purchasing our product was to eliminate plastic from being in direct contact with their family’s food. Whatever your reason, know you have made a good choice!

ReUsies are 100% cotton, lined with water-resistant 100% nylon (BPA, Lead and Phthalate free). They come with Velcro closures that are kid-friendly and ensure that the food won’t fall out. ReUsies can be machine washed and dried, washed in the dishwasher, or for longest life simply wiped clean with a soapy sponge and air dried.

The Review

We are always trying to “Reduce, Re-Use and Recycle” wherever we can. Ziplocs are one thing we just can’t seem to live without, and we can’t really do any of the “3 Rs” with them (especially since we typically use them to freeze raw meat in).

So when I heard about ReUsies, I was excited to give them a try. I received a 2 pack of ReUsies (1 snack and 1 sandwich bag) to review. There are many patterns of ReUsies to choose from—we got to try out the Stepping Stones pattern.

ReUsies are well made and I was surprised that they really did feel like cotton, not a laminated material like I was expecting. It made them seem more natural to me.

I like that you can hand wash them, wash them in the dishwasher or in the washing machine. I have only washed them by hand so far—I think I’ll probably continue to do that as it should make them last longer.
