foods-detox-bodyThough some foods can cause an influx of toxins into our bodies, other foods have decidedly strong detoxifying capabilities. These natural cleaners often enhance our health in many ways. Many are particularly important for keeping the liver, the organ responsible for cleaning our blood, clean. When it comes to purifying the body from the inside, these foods are great candidates to become regular staples of our diets.

With its high anti-oxidant count and significant source of fiber, avocados are great for your liver. By helping to stimulate the production of glutathione in the body, avocados help detoxify the liver naturally.

Garlic not only enhances liver function, it gives the immune system a terrific boost to fight off the harm that toxins do to our bodies. Because it offers a range of health benefits, you can safely add garlic to your diet every single day!

Lemongrass is popular in Asian cuisines, but it’s a food that can benefit everyone no matter where you live.  Lemongrass can help detoxify the liver as well as other vital organs.  Typically made into a tea, the herb can also be added to various dishes to obtain its health benefits.

High in fiber and loaded with great nutritional content, apples are often included on lists of natural detoxifying agents.  Specifically, they are very helpful for keeping the digestive tract clean.

A significant detoxifying agent, ginger may taste strong, but it also has some hefty health benefits.  If you’ve been drinking too much or eating a diet rich in fatty foods, add ginger to your diet along with changing some eating habits to enjoy a healthier lifestyle.

This leafy vegetable can enhance any detox plan.  Particularly good for the kidneys, kale helps naturally cleanse the body and delivers loads of anti-oxidant power.

This juicy albeit tart fruit is a great natural detoxifying food.  It stimulates the liver to burn up fat and, thereby, helps it to rid the body of toxins.  Moreover, it has many nutrients that make it a great addition to one’s diet.

These are just a few of the most popular foods used to detoxify the body.  Add them to your diet so you can enjoy their healthful benefits.

It’s amazing the extents to which food can heal the body. We often reach for drugs for symptom relief but food does more than just relieve the symptoms, they can actually heal.

Great list!

Thank you for this post.

I love the taste of lemongrass. Now that I’ve learned that it helps to detoxify the liver, I have another reason to eat it!
