Let’s face it. Toddlers have a mind all their own. If they want to do something, they really want to do it. If they don’t want to do something, they really don’t want to do it.
Getting Zoë to brush her teeth every day was one of those battles that we fought constantly. We tried several different toothbrushes and toothpastes—I think it was a battle of the wills with her.
Then I was grocery shopping a couple months back and I saw the Spinbrush My Way For Kids Battery Powered Toothbrush on the shelf.
It comes with 141 stickers so kids can decorate them any way they like. There are even letters for them to spell out their name on it.
Every night before bed, I let Zoë choose a sticker to add to her toothbrush.
Then she happily brushes her teeth. It has really helped us develop a routine around brushing teeth. Even Kaylee brushes her own teeth now (with a normal toddler toothbrush)!
I feel like Zoë’s teeth also get much cleaner with the Spinbrush, as it does some of the work for her. According to the research I read, kids brush 38% longer with the Spinbrush. I guess it’s just more fun.
So if you’re battling with your toddler over brushing their teeth, give the Spinbrush a try. Right now, it’s only $5.99 on Amazon (I think I paid $6.99 at the grocery store), so it’s a tiny price to pay for good oral hygiene.
What has helped encourage your toddler to brush their teeth?

That looks great! At this point my toddler still thinks it’s fun…but she doesn’t do it very long. I’ll have to check it out!

It seems like everything for the little ones is “fun” for a while. Then it becomes a chore when they move onto the next “fun” thing. So we try to keep things dynamic and interesting
Hmm, may have to try that! My 2.5 year old will brush but won’t let me help, so having a toothbrush that maximizes his effort is a good idea.
