Bummis potty pantsWe’ve just started dipping our toes into potty-training our 23-month old daughter, K. She’s very smart and has definitely shown interest – but I can only devote a few hours a day to working on the training (and even then, I’m usually distracted by the baby at some point – which gives her the opportunity to have an accident…meh). The real issue we’re running into? She likes to *sit* on the potty, but she wants to *go* in her diaper.

That’s why I was so excited to receive this pair of Bummis Potty Pants! The print was completely adorable and totally something K would love. She likes things that are bright and pretty, so when I showed her the potty pants (and explained that they were very special big-girl pants and belonged to her), she got all giggly and excited, and wanted to put them on right away!

She was so excited about putting these on!

She was so excited about putting these on!

She doesn’t have the best coordination yet, but she was able to get the potty pants on *mostly* by herself – she needed me to get her feet in the leg-holes, but then she was able to pull the pants up and get them over her tushie by herself (even though I had to straighten the elastic, it was better than she’s been able to do with other potty pants!).

K is slightly short and fairly lean for her age – she sits at about 25 pounds right now, give or take. The medium sized Bummis is designed to fit 25-30 pounds, and fit her very comfortably with no gapping at the legs or waist.

Bummis Potty Pants are lined with 40% organic cotton and 60% organic hemp – a blend that seems significantly more absorbent than the purely cotton potty pants K’s already peed in (I’m not even sure plain cotton slows the flow, to be honest – but maybe she just *really* had to go that time). K was kind enough to wet this pair of potty pants for me (RIGHT after she got off her little potty saying she didn’t have to go, naturally), and not only did the lining absorb everything well, the 100% polyurethane laminate shell of the potty pant kept household surfaces protected.

She wet herself while she was sitting on the floor, but everything stayed perfectly dry – I had to do a “pants check” before I even realized she’d gone! Since most of our house is carpeted, the shell was my favorite feature.

Incidentally, they wash well, too. K had a few messes in them, and I was able to get them good as new without any staining or fading of the fabric.

Overall, these are great potty pants, and I’m excited that at least my floors are nice and dry, even if K hasn’t yet figured out how to keep herself that way!
