I always like trying out new natural lotions, so I was curious to try the Holistic Honey Body Lotion from Made from Earth. Overall, I like honey as a skin care ingredient, as long as it’s cruelty free and preferably organic.
Honey is a natural humectants, which means that it attracts and helps your skin retain moisture. It also has really great holistic healing properties. You do have to be careful about where honey is sourced from, so I was very interested to read about the honey used in this lotion.
Made From Earth’s organic honey is produced, processed and packaged in accordance with national regulations and independent organic farming certification organization. This means that the land is organic and within a radius of 4 miles from the apiary site, and that the nectar and pollen sources must consist of organic crops or uncultivated areas.
According to the USDA, organic honey is rare because most beekeepers routinely use sulfate compounds and antibiotics to control bee diseases, carbolic acid to remove honey from the hive and calcium cyanide to kill colonies before extracting the honey.
It made me feel really great knowing that they honey used is not only organic, but cruelty free. Next, I was off to read the ingredients:
Witch Hazel, Coconut Oil, Kosher Vegetable Glycerin, Vitamin E, Organic Honey, Grapeseed Oil, Meadowfoam Seed Oil, Xanthan Gum, Black Willowbark Extract, Essential Oils, Neem, Rosemary, Mannan, Citric Acid.
Looks pretty clean to me!
So how does it work? It moisturized my skin pretty well. Both of the girls were really attracted to this bottle of lotion. They kept wanting to put lotion on their hands and then rub it on Mommy. Kaylee had a blast putting lotion on Mommy’s dry legs.
It does almost have a bit of a medicinal smell to me, but you can smell the sweet scent of honey underneath that scent.
Overall, I was happy with the lotion. I’m not sure it would be the first bottle of lotion I’d grab off the shelf, but I wouldn’t turn it away either.
I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
