I have always struggled with my hair. In my younger years, I desperately wanted it to be stick straight, but it’s not. It has a lot of wave in it (my dad has very curly hair), and I have resisted it most of my life.

Now that I have kids, and hence don’t have much time to perfectly straighten my hair every day, I’ve had to “accept” my wavy hair as part of who I am. When I transitioned our family to natural personal care products, I realized that a lot of the hair care products I was using had toxic ingredient in them, so they immediately went in the trash.

Unfortunately I never replaced them, so my hair ends up in pony tails pretty much every day unless I have time to dry it straight (that happens maybe once or twice a month these days). So, when alex+von shared that they were adding Original Moxie, a natural hair care brand to our offering, I was very excited!

This is very literally a brand new addition, so I just ordered my starter kit and testers over the weekend (I’ll be getting shampoo, conditioner and a few styling products to try out). The consultants who have already gotten to try it are swooning in love with all of the products so I’m dying to try it myself.

What I love about Original Moxie compared to some of the other natural hair care lines I’ve seen is that they go way beyond your shampoo and conditioner into a huge array of repair and styling products any hair stylist would drool over.

And of course you know ingredients are very important to me. All of Original Moxie’s formulas are enriched with botanical and essential oils and are free of sulfates, parabens, formaldehyde (DEA), toxic preservatives and synthetic fragrances.

I love that the line’s founder, Rachel Blistein, conceived, tested and refined her formulations by working with her friends, family, neighbors and colleagues, all of whom had diverse hair care needs and all of whom she saw on a daily basis. This allowed her to develop a broad-based line of products that truly work for every hair type.

Rachel still crafts each product personally, from customizing herbal infusions, to sourcing pure, natural ingredients and fine-tuning Moxie’s iconic essential oil fragrances. The products are then tested and refined until they are positive they are effective for the intended hair type.

Finally, the products are labeled with Original Moxie’s 3-D Diagnostic System, which helps you identify the products that fit your unique hair type. This is a unique system that looks at the Density, Dryness and Degree of Curl.

This sounds amazing! I hate looking through shampoo and conditioner ingredients…the lists are so long and very few companies are completely natural! I hope to try this out someday!! I look forward to hearing your review!!

I liked that they have essential oils. I am also trying to steer my family away from chemical laden soaps and shampoos.

I love hearing about new natural hair products. I can’t believe the crap I used to put on my hair before I knew better!
