If you’re like most women, the mere thought of thinning hair is enough to make you panic. The instant you start to suspect your luscious locks are growing a little sparse, it might seem like it’s the end of the world—or at the very least, the end of your youth. But don’t freak out. Thinning hair happens to the best of us—and there are some steps you can take to prevent it.

It’s true that there’s no cure for baldness, no sure-fire way to re-grow hair, but there are definitely some techniques you can use to strengthen your hair, and to create the appearance of a fuller, richer, thicker head of it.

There’s an old pro tip that involves the use of dry, powder shampoo. Start by flipping your hair upside down. Mist that dry shampoo on your roots, then tousle your hair with your fingers. Believe it or not, this seemingly simple technique can pay off big time. This powder strengthens your roots; when you flip your hair back over, it will stand up and look richer and fuller.

You can do something similar using simple heat instead of dry shampoo. Again, flip your head over, and start blow-drying as you brush from the roots. Gradually move your way up the length of your hair. This heat will prove effective in strengthening your hair; again, it creates the appearance of fuller, more voluminous locks.

Finally, think about the products you are using in your hair. Overuse of hairspray can actually weigh your hair down and make it have less volume. Use hairspray just at the roots and the crown. And try to use a leave-in spray conditioner; for ladies with thinning hair, this is the stuff that works best, and creates the best volume!

Thanks for some interesting suggestions. I don’t use hair spray, but the heat and brushing sound like a good option.
