This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Silk Therapeutics. All opinions are 100% mine.
A huge passion of mine is sharing the importance of using natural, safe and non-toxic skin and personal care products. I had no idea how toxic the products I was using on my body every day were until I was diagnosed with melanoma. Once I knew better, I promised myself I'd do better – and share that knowledge.
I have gotten more and more into making my own beauty products, but I know that's not everyone's cup of tea. So, I also love trying different natural skincare products that can be purchased. There are so many out there now that's it's hard to know which way to turn, right? That's why I love to share my experiences with you.
Recently, I was introduced to a super clean skincare line called Silk Therapeutics. I had never heard of them before, but they rank highly in the EWG Cosmetics Database (all of their products are a 1-2 ranking). So, I was excited to check them out.
If you haven't heard of them either, Silk Therapeutics is the only authentically clean skincare brand that uses pure, liquid silk and no harsh chemicals or additives. Silk molecules are naturally compatible with human skin, so they sink in deeply to support collagen production (which is huge for firming and smoothing skin). Silk also locks in moisture and oxygen while naturally protecting the delivery of other key product ingredients.
This innovative use of silk allows Silk Therapeutics to have a focus on anti-aging skincare products that work for all skin types, including sensitive skin. Now that I'm pushing 40 and I do have sensitive skin, I was excited to try the products.
Currently Silk Therapeutics offers 6 skincare products, including a peel, smoothing face and eye cream, moisturizer, serum and Fine Line Lifting Film. In April, they're launching their new Anti-Aging Line – I had the opportunity to sample 3 of these products.
I love serums. You typically apply them after your toner, but before your moisturizer. They are usually designed to boost different areas of your skincare needs. In this case, the silk and vitamin C work together to firm and brighten your skin.
The ingredient list is simple: Water, Vitamin C (Ascorbyl Glucoside), Sodium Hyaluronate, Silk, Aspen Bark Extract and Lemongrass Essential Oil.
I love how quickly it absorbs. Some anti-aging serums I've tried are very oily and don't absorb very well so you can only use them at night. This serum absorbs quickly, so you can even use it in your morning skincare routine.
This product is one of the most unusual skincare products I've ever tried. When I first opened the package, I thought there had been a mistake, because all I found inside was a little circle of film. Then I realized the product name had the word “film” in it, not “firm.”
Every other day, you basically rub this film onto your damp skin, adding more water if you need it. As you rub the film into your skin, it will start to dissolve. After you rub it all over your face, you allow it to sit for 10 minutes. Over time, it will reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. However, since it has such a high dose of vitamin C, you should see results quite quickly.
The ingredients in this product are extremely simple – just Silk and Vitamin C (L-ascorbic acid).
I love a good eye cream. It seems to be the part of my face to show the first signs of aging, so I like to give it extra attention. The Silk Eye Revive is a nice cream that absorbs in well. It has caffeine in it, so it gives the area a quick boost by enhancing circulation.
The other ingredients have anti-aging benefits for long-term results. The ingredients in this product include: Water, Silk, Caffeine, Vitamin C (Ascorbyl Glucoside), Sodium Anisate, Rosehip Oil.
