dvds_2I am a bit of a movie junkie, and so is my husband. We own hundreds of movies – hundreds of kids’ movies and hundreds of non-kid movies. They were one of the few things we did not sell when we moved to Uruguay. We also have Netflix and Amazon Prime subscriptions.

We watch a movie nearly every night. It’s how we unwind after dinner, and it’s something our whole family enjoys. While there are many genres I enjoy, I think comedies have to be my favorite, by far.

Life can get so serious sometimes, so it’s nice to be able to sit back and laugh at the end of a long day. I’m not sure that I have one movie in particular that’s an absolute favorite, but there are several that I could watch anytime.

Here are my top 20 comedy movie picks:

  1. Zoolander
  2. Talledega Nights
  3. Napoleon Dynamite
  4. Old School
  5. Step Brothers
  6. Dodgeball
  7. Wedding Crashers
  8. Van Wilder
  9. Office Space
  10. Dumb and Dumber
  11. The Wedding Singer
  12. A Night at the Roxbury
  13. Happy Gilmore
  14. American Pie series
  15. Meet the Parents
  16. There’s Something About Mary
  17. Swingers
  18. Coming to America
  19. Billy Madison
  20. Friday

I’m under no illusions that these are the only great comedies. I think I could easily sit down and write a list of 100 really great comedies, but I’ll leave you with these top 20 comedies for now.

What are your favorite comedies? Or do you have a different genre that tops your list?

I am a real fan of the old Peter Seller’s Pink Panther series. And recently, my husband and I watched “The Shakiest Gun in the West” with Don Knotts. He’s also got another movie called, “The Ghost and Mr. Chicken”. You’ll have to check them out. Hysterical! Love this stuff.
