Thank you to Staples for sponsoring this post on its amazing sustainability initiatives and Earth Week specials. All opinions are my own.
When you hear the name Staples, what comes to mind? For me, it’s office supplies. Rows and rows of office supplies.
What I never fully appreciated was Staples’ long-standing role as an industry leader in sustainable efforts. They recently completed a really cool sustainability survey that brought some pretty great news to light. Findings include:
- 90% of businesses engage in eco-friendly activities from recycling to making energy efficient decisions to shopping for more eco-friendly products.
- 89% of businesses and consumers believe that eco-friendly products are the same or higher quality than non-eco products.
However, we need to be better at recycling electronics at the end of their life. Only 51% of consumers take that step.
To help encourage all of us to do better in that area, Staples offers completely free electronics recycling all year round. They’re the only retailer to offer this service all year, and in 2016, they helped customers recycle more than 25 million pounds of office technology.
To sweeten that deal for Earth Week (April 16-22, 2017), Staples is offering its Rewards Members who recycle old electronics a coupon for $10 off their next purchase of $30 or more.
The offer is redeemable in store for Rewards Members only. If you’re not already a Rewards Members, you can easily sign up online or in-store to be eligible for the coupon.
In addition, you can get 30% off your online purchase of select eco-friendly office essentials during Earth Week. Staples® Sustainable Earth ™ products include high-quality surface cleaners, recycled paper products and office supplies that are economical and sustainable for a range of needs.
Even ENERGY STAR is recognizing the steps Staples is taking to operate more sustainably. Earlier this month, they awarded Staples with an ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year Award for the eighth year in a row.
