I have 2 awesome prizes lined up for this fabulous giveaway hop to help mom get ready for summer, valued at approximately $200! Philips is providing one of my readers with a Satin Perfect Epilator ($149.99 value) and another reader with a Bikini Perfect Trimmer ($49.99 value)!

Philips Satin Perfect Epilator

When I was asked to review the Philips Satin Perfect Epilator, I was both excited and nervous. I had never used an epilator before, so I really didn’t know what to expect.

What I did know was that I never seemed to have time to shave my legs consistently. And with summer coming up, I needed to find a way to keep from looking like a bigger hippie than I actually am.

So when the epilator arrived on my doorstep, I just kind of stared at the box for a few days before I opened it up and decided to give it a try.

After fully charging the battery, I sat down on my couch (yes, in my living room) with the epilator and bravely went to work. I turned it on and started to glide it up my leg. The epilator instantly started ripping all of the hairs out of my leg, one by one.

I’d be lying if I said it didn’t hurt – a lot. I’m sure I may have even screamed a little bit. The worst pain was on my calves and shin. It really didn’t hurt much at all on my knees or my thighs, which surprised me.

After I finished, there were little red dots all over my legs from where the hair had been pulled out, which scared me at first. But after applying a nice, gentle, natural lotion to them and letting a little time pass, the red dots disappeared and I was left with nice, smooth legs! Hubby was definitely very happy!

I have used it twice since then, and the pain has been less and less each time, which is a huge relief. I’m starting to get the hang of epilating my legs.

I really like that I don’t have to shave them every couple of days to keep them smooth. I have had to epilate about every 2 weeks, but I think that’s because I don’t get all of the hairs every time I do it. I have noticed that when the hair does grow back in, it’s finer than it was when I would shave, so it’s not as noticeable right away.

I do plan to keep epilating my legs. I find it to be much more convenient and long lasting than shaving.

Philips Satin Perfect Epilator Features

This cordless, total body epilator removes hair in one stroke without pulling or irritating the skin – and leaving it looking beautiful and pampered for up to four weeks!

  • Textured ceramic discs gently grip and remove even the finest and shortest (0.5MM) hairs
  • Body contouring head follows every curve of your body
  • 2-Speed Setting allows you to use the ideal epilation speed for your skin-type
  • Built-in opti-light reveals tiny, fine hairs clearly
  • Active hairlifter & massaging system vibrates and removes flat lying hairs, while stimulating and soothing the skin
  • Optimal performance cap pivots for ideal skin contact
  • Cordless for up to 40 minutes of usage time
  • Washable head
  • Beauty bonuses: shave, trim & style attachment; luxury smart tweezers; convenient travel bag

Philips Bikini Perfect Trimmer

I didn’t get to try the Philips Bikini Perfect Trimmer, but it sounds great with summer coming up! It provides everything you need to maintain spa results at home, including two foolproof attachments to creatively remove your bikini area growth without nicks, redness, irritation or unnecessary pain (like what you’d get with waxing).

The Bikini Perfect Trimmer can be used wet or dry, in or out of the shower, and is rechargeable for up to 60 minutes of cordless grooming on the go.

Bikini Perfect Trimmer Features:

  • Perfectly grooms bikini line with precision and comfort
  • Micro Shaver: Achieves extra smooth and safe results with hypoallergenic foil
  • Beauty bonuses: convenient travel bag, pen trimmer, exfoliation glove

My hair grows pretty quickly so in summer I have to shave my legs often but the product info says that it “the result lasts up to 4 weeks”. It would be awesome to go that long in between shaving. Q. What do I have to consider when detaching the caps?
A. To detach one of the caps squeeze both sides of the respective cap and pull it off the appliance. Do not pull on the rolls or the comb of the attachments, because this could lead to a breakage of the cap.

I guess epilators are really good. However, one needs to calm the skin after hair is removed. There are several products which help in calming the skin, but ones which contain witch hazel are good due to their anti-septic properties.

Reply

87 Erin April 25, 2013 at 7:40 pm

Chrystal, the first time I got an epilator, I didn’t open the box for weeks. Lol! Then I finally mustered up the courage to use it despite the fact that it sounded like a lawn mower. You have to exfoliate. It feels like torture at first but like you said stubble free legs for a few weeks seems worth it.
