everything-happens-for-a-reasonMy Grandmother was a huge influence in my life. As a child, I chose to spend weekends with her rather than having sleepovers with my friends very often. Starting in High School, I started travelling with her to doll and bear shows where she sold her collectibles. I continued doing that well into college when she stopped doing it.

I really cherished all of the time I got to spend with her, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. I learned one lesson during one of our trips together that I still carry with me today.

Everything happens for a reason.

One trip north along the 5 freeway, we made a stop at Denny’s for some food. Somehow we ended up with a waitress that had no clue how to do her job. She never entered our orders and an hour later when she finally did, she got them wrong. We were at that Denny’s for around 3 hours for a simple meal that was supposed to be a quick stop.

Instead of getting upset about it, we decided that it probably happened for a reason. Maybe if our trip was quick, we would have ended up in an accident or something. That conversation has stuck with me ever since.

We all have good times and bad times. Ups and downs. But in the end, I always try to remind myself that everything happens for a reason. While sometimes it’s hard to believe that when you’re in the middle of a particularly difficult situation, but when you come out of it can usually see that it’s true.
