New superfoods seem to be popping up every day, and I always like learning about the new ones. I was recently introduced to Moringa. Nicknamed the ‘Miracle Tree of Life’, Moringa contains more than 90 bio nutrients, 27 vitamins, 46 antioxidants, all 8 essential amino acids and minerals.

Here are some of the amazing nutritional benefits of Moringa. In a pound for pound comparison to other food sources, it contains:

  • 7 times the vitamin C found in oranges
  • 4 times the calcium found in milk, and twice the protein
  • 4 times the vitamin A found in carrots
  • Thrice the potassium found in bananas
  • Thrice the iron found in almonds

I also love that all parts of the tree can be used, so there’s no waste! The pods are edible, yielding approximately 40% oil, known as Moringa or Ben Oil. This oil is clear, odorless and long lasting, and can be used in cooking, as a moisturizer, as a hair conditioner and in cosmetics and in medicines. The leaves can be eaten as greens or added to soups and curries. Even the bark, branch shoots, seed cake, wood and flowers are used in household activities, or fed to livestock.

Moringa trees grow rapidly – almost as fast as bamboo – so need to be pruned weekly, making them a great renewable resource. After reading all of this great background information, I was excited to give the Moringa Source Starter Combo a try!

The kit includes 3 Moringa-based products

Moringa Oleifera Tea

This Moringa oleifera tea actually isn’t a tea, but a tisane that contains no caffeine. Health benefits of Moringa oleifera teas:

  • 47 Antioxidants
  • 36 Anti-inflammatories
  • 25 Vitamins & Minerals
  • 27% Plant-based protein
  • All 8 essential Amino Acids

It has a very deep, earthy flavor. It tastes similar to green tea (to me), but a little richer. If you want to make it more flavorful, you can add organic lemon, raw honey or cinnamon to it.

Moringa Capsules

These capsules contain only powdered Moringa oleifera leaves, with no additives, fillers or flow agents. They are specially nurtured and hand harvested and are then packaged at cGMP, FDA-approved facilities in the USA, handpicked and packaged under close supervision. Moringa capsules provide an easily digestible abundance of nutrition, which is safe for the entire family to consume.

When compared to other food sources on a pound for pound basis, Moringa capsules contain:

  • 7 times the vitamin C found in oranges
  • 4 times the calcium found in milk, and twice the protein
  • 4 times the vitamin A found in carrots
  • 3 times the potassium found in bananas
  • 3 times the iron found in almonds

I love that I get so much nutrition in one little capsule!

Moringa Oil (applied to half of my hand)

The multi-purpose Moringa oleifera oil is 100% Pure and can be used as a skin and hair rejuvenator or non-sticky body massage oil.

Moringa oil is great for:

  • Energy rejuvenation
  • Skin and hair rejuvenation
  • Relaxation
  • Emotional Well Being

I really like this oil. It goes on easily and absorbs readily. Zoë is very particular about what lotions and oils she’ll let me put on her, and she likes the Moringa Oil. She had an allergic reaction to something last week and her hands and wrists broke out in a really bad rash. The Moringa Oil has been very calming for her skin, and whenever I put it on her, she says, “That feels nice!” I would love to see a version of this oil scented with some essential oils!
