Are you a teacher, or do you know of a teacher who is looking for educational resources for his or her classroom (or school)? Have you heard of Mentoring Minds? They offer a variety of resources on various subjects to help advance education and critical thinking strategies in the classroom.
They offer tools to help students develop critical thinking skills, which are essential building blocks in education. Their tools aim to move students beyond the ability to simply memorize facts into the skills of acquiring and processing information with higher order thinking.
The educational tools they offer help develop this skill set are critical thinking wheels (available in both English and Spanish), questioning stems and guides to help teachers develop their own strategies.
Critical thinking skills are also interwoven into the subject-based materials. The subjects that Mentoring Minds offers resources in include:
- Math
- Reading
- Science
- Spanish
- Vocabulary
- Writing
In addition to reading and writing, Zoë is starting to show a lot of interest in math (she loves working out addition problems), so I’d love to try these Vocabulary Adventures in Mathematics for K-2 Cards with her.
I like that the cards weave vocabulary into the math concepts. While I was a very strong student (especially in math), vocabulary was always my weak point (and it showed in my SAT and GRE scores). I’d love for Zoë and Kaylee’s vocabulary to be as strong as their math skills.
Unfortunately, I believe they only sell directly to educational institutions, so we’ll probably look elsewhere, but overall, Mentoring Minds seems to have a great variety of educational tools for the classroom setting.

Thank you to Mentoring Minds for sponsoring today’s post on critical thinking strategies for students in the classroom setting.
