Baby Shower Gift Ideas for the Natural Parent {Plus Fresh Air Crib Liner Giveaway}

Finding out you’re pregnant for the first time is a wonderful time. However, once you start planning for the baby’s arrival, it can be overwhelming to try and figure out which things you actually need for the baby.

This challenge can be especially hard for people who choose to live a natural lifestyle, when their friends and family don’t share that same philosophy. Creating a registry for your baby shower can be a daunting task – I know it was for me.

After having two babies while continuing on our natural living journey, I have come to figure out what items I consider essential for a new baby. If you’re a first time parent who also believes in natural living, I hope this list is helpful for you in developing your registry for your baby shower. Or if you’re shopping for a baby shower, I hope these gift ideas are helpful.

Baby Carrier

When Zoë was a baby, she wanted to be close to me all the time. She also took a 20 minute nap every 2 hours like clockwork. I was literally housebound until I discovered the Moby Wrap. It allowed me to wear her anywhere – and she would happily nap away in it. It completely saved my sanity. Kaylee preferred to be in a soft structured carrier like the Ergo from the time she was born. If one carrier doesn’t work for you, try another one. Many communities have babywearing groups where you can try various carriers before deciding upon one.

Natural Baby Care Products

One thing to be very careful about is what you put on your baby’s skin. You want to avoid ingredients like fragrance, parabens, sulfates, propylene glycol and more. Look for ingredients you can pronounce. My favorite natural brand for babies is Earth Mama Angel Baby.

Breastfeeding Supplies

Setting yourself up for breastfeeding success is important. Make sure you have nursing bras and tank tops, nursing pads (reusable ones are much more comfortable) and a natural nipple butter. Many people also like using a nursing pillow and a nursing cover.

Onesies

During the summer months, my girls pretty much lived in onesies. It made life so much easier. Diaper changes were easier and the girls were much more comfortable being worn in a baby carrier that way. If you can, invest in organic materials.

Swaddle Blankets

Some babies like being swaddled and others don’t. Kaylee loved it. All I’d have to do is swaddle her and rock her for a few minutes and I could lay her down and she’d fall fast asleep. Look for organic material.

The Fresh Air Crib Liner™

Even though we co-slept, Zoë did have a crib in her room where she napped. I was always so concerned she’d roll over and smother herself in her crib bumper. But I was equally afraid if I removed it that she’d get an arm or leg stuck between the slat. I wish we’d known about The Fresh Air Crib Liner™, The Crib Bumper Alternative®. It is a mesh liner that locks into place to provide fresh airflow for a safe sleep. No worries about limbs getting stuck in the slats and no risk of suffocation. The Fresh Air Crib Liner™ is adjustable to fit most cribs. It’s available at Target, and you can get a $5.00 rebate through this link.

Any of these items would make a great baby shower gift idea for the natural parent.

We love wooden toys around here! If you have a family member that works well with wood he could make you a lot of different items. My FIL made my two kids airplanes they can sit on. Two that hang on the wall. A baby doll high chair and crib.

One of the best gifts to me is a really nice bath set, it’s hard to get around the cost as a new parent but it’s worth it to have a natural, organic set for something that you put on your baby’s skin everyday!

The best gifts I have ever received at my baby shower are the back seat mirror, which helps me a lot when I travel with my fussy baby. Those bibs with pocket, that are really useful especially when my baby starts eating solid and my favorite one, the forehead thermometer that all the family member can use if he or she is feeling sick. Until now I have these stuff in hand and taking good care of them because they are not just an ordinary gift, they make my life easier that I never thought it would. And I agree, that if you will give a gift it must be an organic or eco-friendly, for the baby’s safety. And to be honest, I haven’t received stuffed animals at my baby shower but, I am so thankful because I get what I really needed for my baby.

Such lovely gifts. I have bought some gifts a month ago from Ginger Kids for the birthday of my niece. I bought some bibs, baby thermometer and baby backseat mirror. Do you think this presents are the best?
