Big Fish LogoI’ve shared before that I like playing online games for a little diversion. So when Big Fish Games asked if I wanted to review one of their games, I said of course!

I chose to review Gardenscapes, one of their Online Hidden Objects Games. This fun game allows you to create your ideal garden. You basically search rooms in a mansion to find hidden objects to sell for money to restore your garden to its original glory.

There’s also a “Best Garden” contest (we’re just getting into that part of the game).

Downloading the game and getting started was really easy. We even got to play the game for a full hour for free before deciding if that was the game we wanted to purchase with our game code. You can download and play all of the Big Fish Games for an hour before buying, which is great because you can be sure it’s something you’ll have fun playing.

Zoë was sitting next to me when I started playing Gardenscapes, and I quickly realized it could even be an educational tool for her. She has a hard time being patient looking for what she wants, so she never wants to look for anything. She always wants us to go find it for her.

So this game is great for her! I tell her one of the items to find in the picture, and she looks for it while I look for others. It has shown me that she really can sit down and focus if it’s done in a way that captures her attention. As her reward for focusing, she gets to choose which pieces we add to the garden when we’ve saved enough money.

I also like that I can easily switch back and forth between relaxed and timed mode. When I’m playing on my own, I like the timed version. Whereas when I’m playing with Zoë (and Kaylee is even getting into it), I want the relaxed version so we can take our time.

I really wasn’t expecting to have this educational and family engagement aspect from the game, but I’m so happy that element has been brought to my attention! We’re having a blast playing Gardenscapes, and I’ll definitely consider Big Fish Games next time I want to purchase another game for my computer or play an online game.
