We’re planning to home school, so I’m starting to test the waters to make sure it’s going to be a good fit with Zoë. We’ve been working on the basics, like letters, rhyming, beginning spelling, numbers, addition, etc.

So I’m really excited to try the Reading Horizons Intensive Phonics Program with her! It is designed for children ages 4-9, and for homeschooling beginning readers, struggling readers and children with dyslexia.

The program includes a variety of materials that make it simple for parents to teach their children all of the skills they need to read words of all lengths.

Instructor Manuals

These two scripted manuals provide parents with all of the information they need to teach the 68 skills taught in the effective Discover Intensive Phonics for Yourself methodology.

Sound Essentials Manual

This manual contains activities and materials to enrich and reinforce the methodology taught in the instructor manuals. It’s divided into practice pages, games and activities, and instructional aides.

Reverse Listening Cards

These 616 cards give parents a way to test their child’s ability to read and decode at incremental levels. They provide guided reading and writing activities, help develop independent work and provide word banks for dictation.

Set of Little Books

The Little Books include short stories that are designed to enforce and transfer the skills that are taught in the methodology into everyday reading passages.

Poster Pack

Featuring 42 sounds, blends, MCW, 5 phonetic skills, 2 decoding skills, vowels.

I love how comprehensive this program is – we’re really looking forward to getting started. Be sure to subscribe to Happy Mothering so you can get updates on our progress.

If you want to give the Reading Horizons program a try, you can sign up for a free trial to make sure it’s right for you. They even offer a 60-day money back guarantee.

One Happy Mothering reader will win the Reading Horizons Intensive Phonics Program during the A Very Green Back to School Hop ($299 value)! To enter, simply complete the Rafflecopter form below. Good luck!

I learned that I need to go back to school. LOL.. I had no idea that you could know how to spell c and k words from the vowels that are in the words. I found this on the Sample Reading Skills. This would be nice to have since I am going to home school my children. Thank you and God bless. Judith

I learned “these easy-to-use and easy-to-understand phonics programs are especially helpful for individuals suffering from Dyslexia and other learning disabilities.”
My daughter and my grandson are both Dyslexic. I would like to see how this program could help them, especially my grandson, who is just starting high school.
