Both Zoë and Kaylee get carsick, which is especially challenging since we live up in the mountains and have to drive long, windy roads to get anywhere. Drives that should take under 3 hours usually take us upwards of 4 hours because we have to take frequent breaks on the drive.
We have tried leaving at times when we thought they’d sleep, limiting how much they eat before the drive, ginger mints, ginger ale and numerous other things to try to alleviate the car sickness. Unfortunately, one or both of them end up getting sick nearly every time we drive up or down the mountain.
I had heard that acupressure could be a potential solution to our car sickness troubles, so we were excited to receive a set of Sea Bands for the girls to try out. I couldn’t get Zoë to leave hers on – she’s sensitive to tight things.
However, Kaylee was excited to wear hers since they are pretty and pink! She wore hers for an entire drive up the mountain and didn’t complain once of not feeling well. Zoë, on the other hand, did complain of not feeling well (she didn’t wear the Sea Bands).
Sea Bands also offers a Ginger Gum, which we also tried. It seemed to help them when they weren’t feeling well. It’s gluten free, but I do wish they didn’t use corn syrup as the sweetener.
One Happy Mothering reader will win a set of children’s Sea Bands and a pack of Ginger Gum ($19.97 value)! Enter via the Rafflecopter form below. Good luck!
