However, my husband was completely opposed to that idea. He didn’t want his clothes washed in the same machine as ‘baby poo.’ And try as I may, there was no way I was changing his mind.
So, I started looking at cloth diaper delivery services, but there was only one in San Diego. They only did prefolds and they were expensive. Scratch that.
After that, I started researching other environmentally friendly options for diapering and I came across biodegradable diapers. From my research, I only found one brand of diapers that was easily accessible in the US that was actually fully biodegradable. The brand is Nature Babycare Biodegradable Diapers
At first I was a little nervous about how the quality would be, but I had read good reviews, so we decided to give them a shot. I ordered a case of size 1s and a case of size 2s from Diapers.com. They are also available on Amazon
When they arrived at our door, I opened up one of the packages to check them out. They had a nice, simple pattern on them and the quality seemed to be just fine to me.
So, when Zoë was finally born, we got to try them out. I had also gotten a bunch of Huggies and Pampers as gifts, so I decided to do a sort of trial between Nature BabyCare biodegradable diapers, Huggies and Pampers.
I started noticing that the Nature BabyCare biodegradable diaper stack was always lower than the other two stacks, so I would compensate by taking one from the other piles. I mentioned it to my husband and he said he always used the Nature BabyCare diapers – he liked them the best.
After using the biodegradable diapers for a while, I decided that I also liked the Nature BabyCare the best out of the three brands. Huggies came in second and Pampers was a very distant third (I hate the squishy feeling that Pampers have and I don’t like the way they smell).
So, if you’re looking for an environmentally friendly diaper and just can’t use cloth diapers for whatever reason, take a look at Nature Babycare Biodegradable Diapers
