Are you searching for the best all natural home remedies for earache pain? Check out our list of the top 5 earache remedies for kids and adults.
Ear pain can come on without warning. I remember heading to the ER in the middle of the night more times than I can count as a kid because the pain would come out of nowhere and my parents would have to work the next day.
The standard treatment back then was Amoxicillin and Tylenol with Codeine. I think that was more for the parents than for the kids. I was on antibiotics so often as a kid that some of the more common ones like Amoxicillin don’t work for me anymore.
While antibiotics are a truly wonderful discovery, they are used far more often than they should be. I don’t want my kids to develop an issue with antibiotics working for them, so we only turn to them when they will truly be helpful. After all, we want them to work if they ever really need them.
Fortunately, there are a ton of reliable natural home remedies for earache pain that we can try first. While my parents were not well versed in natural remedies, it’s something that I have made a priority for myself. Especially after all of the research that has been done showing that antibiotics usually are NOT needed for ear infections.
Did you know that about 70% of children with ear infections get better on their own within 2-3 days, and about 80% are better within 7-10 days? With all of antibiotic resistant bacteria we are dealing with these days, it’s best not to use antibiotics unless it is known to help the issue.
If your child is dealing with ear pain, try these natural home remedies for earache pain. Ear infections usually heal on their own, but these home remedies will help keep your child more comfortable.

Salt Sock Earache Home Remedy
The pain of an ear infection can be unbearable. I had one a few years ago that was so bad that my jaw hurt so much I couldn’t eat.
This was before I knew about all of the natural home remedies for earache pain, so I sought antibiotics that time. Sometimes you do need to accept the help of Western medicine. It’s there for a reason.
However, antibiotics don’t immediately help with the pain. One natural way to do that is with a Salt Sock Earache Home Remedy.
This home remedy is a warm, soothing way to to help ease ear pain naturally. I’ve had a few friends try it with success as well!
Ear Ease Essential Oil Blend
In the past, I have always diluted lavender oil, melaleuca oil and basil oil and then rubbed it all around my daughters’ ears when they have an earache. In fact, I do it a lot for myself as well.
However, when my babies are screaming in pain, I want something I can just grab and use. That’s why Plant Therapy developed Ear Ease, an essential oil synergy that is completely safe to use on adults and children ages 2 and up.
KidSafe Ear Ease contains congestion-clearing Rosalina, sanitizing Palmarosa and Tea Tree, soothing Roman Chamomile and calming Lavender. You can rub it around the outside of the ear for soothing.
While the bottle does give an option to use the oil in the ear, that’s something I do not do, I was always taught not to put essential oils in the ear canal, ever. If the eardrum is perforated, it can be very dangerous.
The Ear Ease blend works using it on the outside of the ear as well, so that’s how we use it. You can also try applying 1-2 drops of Ear Ease to a small cotton ball and gently insert partially into the ear, then apply 1 drop of Ear Ease to the area in front of the ear.
Muellin, Herb and Garlic Ear Oil
Don’t want to make your own garlic ear oil? Then pick up a bottle of Herb Pharm Mullein/Garlic Herbal Ear Drop Oil, which contains a blend of Certified-Organically Grown or are Sustainably Wildcrafted Mullein, Calendula and St. John’s Wort flower extracts, and Garlic bulb extract.
It’s something great to have on hand if you have kids. I haven’t tried it, but I think I’m going to pick up a bottle so I don’t have to make my own next time the kids are sick. It seems like they always get me sick too!
Homeopathy is another area I turn to whenever we’re sick or need to improve our health. If you’re looking for a homeopathic home remedy for ear earaches, then pick up some Ferrum Phosphoricum.
It’s the go-to homeopathic “anti-inflammatory” medicine. It also targets the eustachian tube (aka the ear canal) to aid in the drainage of fluid trapped in the ear canal. Ferrum Phosphoricum also reduces inflammation to help reduce the pain associated with earaches.
