One of the many ways you can improve upon your reduce, reuse, recycle routine is to compost kitchen scraps. We have tried composting in the past, but hadn't found a system that worked well for us.
So I was thrilled when BioBag offering to send me their composting system, which includes their Max Air food waste bucket and 3 gallon waste bags.
At first I was a little surprised at how small the food waste bucket is, but then almost instantly realized it was designed that way for a reason. I don't know about you, but I don't have a lot of extra space under my sink, so the size of this waste basket is perfect. You can even hang the bucket inside the door of your kitchen sink, which is really convenient.
In addition to that, I like the smaller size because it encourages you to take the compost out at regular intervals so smell doesn't have time to accumulate. It holds enough to get through a couple days in our house (we eat a lot of fruit and have lots of food scraps), but doesn't hold so much that it sits under the sink for too long.
The BioBag food waste bags are corn based and certified compostable. They fit nicely in the Max Air food waste bucket and breathe naturally to allow heat and moisture to escape or evaporate. This process allows your food waste to dry, thus reducing the rate of bacterial build-up which is what causes odor.
Check out these pictures that compare composting in the BioBag Composting System with composting in a closed container.

I think these pictures tell the story pretty well.
