I try to stick to a dairy free diet, and we have recently put Zoë on one as well. One of the things I miss the most (besides cheese) is ice cream. I know you can buy almond milk or coconut milk ice cream at the store, but it's pretty expensive and there are a lot of additives in most of them that I'd prefer to avoid.
So when I read I could make my own dairy-free soft serve “ice cream” at home with the Fruiti Freeze, I was very excited! As soon as the box arrived, Zoë and Kaylee wanted to open it and use it right away. Fortunately, I knew it was coming, so I had secretly stocked our freezer with frozen berries and bananas.
After washing all of the parts and assembling the Fruiti Freeze, I realized that the design is very much like our juicer.
Before putting the fruit into the Fruiti Freeze, we made sure to follow the directions and allow the frozen fruit to sit at room temperature for around 10 minutes before making our homemade soft serve. After waiting patiently, we were ready to go! You put the fruit in the top, and it crushes it and out comes the perfect treat.
We chose to go with strawberries, raspberries and bananas, and put them in one fruit at a time so we could sample the different flavors. I was surprised that the taste was a bit sour (I think next time we'll freeze our own ripe fruit rather than buying pre-frozen fruit), so we added a couple tablespoons of raw honey and mixed it all together.
After doing that, we all agreed that our homemade dairy free soft serve was a delicious treat! I'm looking forward to making lots of delicious fruit desserts with the girls this summer with our Fruiti Freeze!
