2018 has finally come to a close. I love looking back at the year to see what I’ve accomplished. I like to see what posts my readers loved throughout the year. It helps me define goals for the coming year and figure out what types of content to create more of.
I just had the realization that this is the 10th Christmas I’ve blogged through! Happy Mothering won’t be 10-years old until July of 2019 – it’s hard to believe that milestone is just around the corner – but blogging through ten fourth quarters feels like a pretty big accomplishment!
I have put my blood, sweat and tears into Happy Mothering. I have persevered through numerous trials and tribulations and I’m so grateful for what it has become for my family. This little blog has brought my family so many experiences, fun travel opportunities and so much joy in our lives.
The income from this blog is what is sustaining us while I’m sick. If I don’t make it through whatever this is, I know that it will help to sustain my family after I’m gone as well. It’s why I’m spending so much time managing the themes, hosting, affiliate links and all of the admin stuff that will make things go much smoother for my family if I’m not able to be here with them.
Let’s go back and focus on the positive stuff though! I’m trying not to focus on the negative things while we wait for more test results.
A lot of amazing things happened for us this year. It’s the first full year that Brian and I have worked together on the blog. I never thought we’d find a way to make it work, and I’m so happy that we have. It’s the best to be able to be with my family full time.
Happy Mothering finished the year just shy of reaching my goal of 40,000 Pinterest followers! If you’re not following me there now and you like my content, I’d love if you’d pop over and follow me there. I’d also love to connect on Instagram!
Another huge milestone we saw this year was hitting around 2.7 million pageviews for the year (after filtering out some spam referrals we dealt with this year)! Considering we only had 1.8 million pageviews in 2017, that’s a huge jump at 150% growth! I am hopeful we’ll see the same growth, or more, in 2019.
It was a good year, and I’m hopeful this year will be even better. Here are some other highlights from 2018.

One question I’m often asked is where my traffic comes from. It primarily comes from Pinterest and Google, but here are my top traffic sources for 2018.

Check out my past years’ blog recaps:
I’ve been writing these recaps since 2012 (the year I went full time). It’s a really great exercise. If you are serious about blogging, I recommend doing it!
I hope you take some time to reflect on how things went with your blog over the last year. It will help give you a good roadmap of what to work on this year!
