Tired of your cell phone carrier providing over-priced poor service? Then you need to check out Ting Mobile – the last affordable and reliable carrier. This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Ting Mobile. All opinions are 100% mine.
I remember when I got my first cell phone. Very few of my friends had them yet, but I was rarely at home and it seemed like a good investment for me. Now everyone has at least one phone!
I've noticed lately that prices for cell phone plans have gone WAY up. When I hear how much money some friends pay for their cell phone plans I about fall over.
We're currently on a grandfathered in plan that's great, but they've been trying to push us off of it for a while, so I started looking around at other cell phone carriers “just in case.” I am astounded at the prices for what you get!
I did, however, stumble upon a newer cell phone provider that looks very promising! That provider is Ting Mobile. Their whole goal is to provide great service that can save their customers a lot of money on their monthly cell phone bills.
The first thing that caught my eye is that their coverage uses two networks – Sprint and T Mobile. They are the first company to offer this feature. I love that because it seems like if one carrier is spotty in an area, another one gets superb service, so you have a choice.
Although Ting offers Sprint & T-Mobile carrier/service – you must select one per device. Different devices on the same plan can be on different carriers – but each device needs to have one of the carriers “assigned” to it.
After that, I discovered that the average monthly bill of their customers is only $23 per device. Say what!? And there are no contracts.
That's because Ting offers rates, not traditional plans like we're all used to. How much you pay is determined by how you use your phone each month. You don't have to lock yourself into a plan where you pay for more than you use, and you don't get penalized if you go over. You always pay for what you use. Cool, right?
How Do Ting Rates Work?
It's pretty simple. There's a base charge of $6 for your phone. Then you pay for your usage of minutes, messages, megabytes and, of course, required taxes. Minutes, messages and data are independent of each other.
Your bill will vary month to month, depending upon what you use, but they have a nifty calculator you can play with on their website to help you estimate what your bill would be. Using it, I figured out I'd definitely save money on my usage, but my husband, who watches a lot of video on his phone, may not.
If you're currently on a family plan, Ting's rate format could be a great place for you to save money. All phones on your account draw from the same pool of minutes, messages and megabytes. The more phones you have on your account, the less you pay per phone, on average.
And you can see in real time how your family is using minutes, messages and megabytes each month. If you have a teen who likes to go over no matter how much you nag them, you can put alerts and caps on minutes, messages and mobile data through your dashboard, so you’ll never go over a limit you set, unless you choose to. Take that teens!
What About Customer Service?
I always worry when I see a company offering low rates that they might not have great service. Ting, however, prides themselves on offering wonderful “No-Hold Customer Service.” A real, live person answers the phone every time you call and you don't have to sit on hold forever to get a live person!
I can't say that about the carrier I'm with now. It's like pulling teeth to get a live person with them! Not so with Ting. You can get a real person right away with them.
Who is Ting Mobile Right For?
Ting Mobile is a great choice for many people who mainly use their cell phone to keep in touch with family and friends. It's great for families that need to cut costs on their family plan. It's also great for anyone who's retired and on a budget.
It's also a great choice for anyone who likes to speak to real people. If you're not techy and are tired of being left on your own to figure it out, Ting may be a great choice for you.
