When I first started blogging on Happy Mothering, I just dove in without doing a lot of research. We had started a blog about our time in Uruguay, and I just tagged Happy Mothering onto that TypePad account.
I had no clue there were other moms blogging (seriously, I must have lived in a cave or something). I had no idea there was so much opportunity out there for professional bloggers. I just wanted to share my experiences with our family’s journey towards living a natural lifestyle, if for nothing else but to write these experiences down for myself.
Happy Mothering slowly grew into something more, and in the last year has really taken on a life of its own. I’m so grateful for my readers and for all of the opportunities this blog has brought into my life.
If I could have done things differently, though, I would have done more research before I started blogging. It would have made my spiraling path much smoother along the way (although I have loved my journey).
I recently finished reading ProBlogger: Secrets for Blogging Your Way to a Six-Figure Income. If you are thinking about starting your own blog, I highly recommend reading this book. It really guides you from conceptualizing your blog into making it a reality. It is the most thorough how to book I’ve read for beginning bloggers.
I very seldom make it all the way through a book, and I read this one cover to cover. It’s a great read and very easy to follow, even if you know nothing about blogging.
Next, I want to complete Darren’s 31 Days to Build a Better Blog Challenge. Hopefully it can teach me even more – I love learning! ProBlogger also has several other blogging resources that I’d like to check out.
If you are thinking about blogging, or want to take your blog to the next level, pick up a copy of ProBlogger: Secrets for Blogging Your Way to a Six-Figure Income. It’s worth the $15!
