If you follow me on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram, you probably saw me sharing information about the Seeds of Change Grant Program last month. It's a really cool program for school and community gardening and farming programs that encourage Americans to live a healthier lifestyle.
The Grant Program has been running since 2012. Between 2012 and 2016, grant recipients have received more than $1 million in funding. Approximately 90 tons of produce has been grown with those funds, and many recipients donate the produce they grow to local food pantries. How cool is that?
This year, Seeds of Change™ will be awarding $310,000 in grants to 24 different garden projects around the country. Two schools and two communities will receive grants totaling $110,000, and 10 schools and 10 communities will be receive grants totaling $200,000. A lot of good can be done with those funds!
To fund the Seeds of Change™ Grant Program, the brand donates one percent of its net sales to fund it. That's good to know so I can vote with my dollars at the grocery store.
While the application period is now over for this year, the voting phase is now open, and runs through April 19, 2017 at 11:59 p.m. EDT. You can check out all of the garden projects that applied to receive a Grant from Seeds of Change™ in the online gallery.
You can vote once every 24 hours to help choose the Top 50 garden projects. Once the voting is complete, the 24 final grant recipients will be selected from the Top 50 starting April 24, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. EST. Winners will be announced on May 8, 2017.
Will you do me a favor? Pop over to the Seeds of Change Grant Program voting page and vote for your favorite garden project? Then share with your friends and ask them to do the same? Thanks a million!
