I have to admit, I have been completely sucked into several Facebook games over the last few years. Farmville was probably the one that consumed me the most, but there were a few others that were pretty close behind it. I try to stay away from the games now because they end up consuming more time than I have these days.
Apparently I’m not alone with my adoration of Facebook games. Apparently, Facebook gaming is the fastest growing game genre in the last several years. And, half of Facebook logins are exclusively to play games (Source: Gaming Expands Its Presence in the Digital Universe”, McKinsey & Company, Insights from McKinsey’s Global iConsumer Research September 2011 and 10 Mindblowing Facebook Game Statistics, AllFacebook.com, September 2010). In addition, more than 70% of social gamers are female (Source: gold.insidenetwork.com/facebook, July 2010).
So, when I was asked to review a new Facebook game, I was reluctant (but excited at the same time).
The new game I was asked to try is Tail Towns, a free Facebook game with photo-realistic graphics. It’s similar to Farmville in some ways since you get to build an orchard and a country getaway home and garden, but there is more of a storyline to Tail Towns. When they first told me that there would be drama and a soap opera like storyline, I didn’t believe it since the characters are all animals, but there is definitely a storyline worthy of network TV.
There are even collectible figurines to go along with the Tail Towns characters. They are all custom designed, hand painted and made from polystone. When you register your figurine within the game, you get game rewards (such as ornate specialty virtual décor items). You also get the hidden storyline behind each character when you register their corresponding figurine. I can see this becoming quite the obsession for some people!
Do I have your interest yet? If so, you can win to win one Tail Towns figurine from the first series!
To enter the contest, you must describe your ‘dream garden’ or ‘country getaway’ in a tweet using the HASHTAG #TailTowns. It would be awesome if you can tag @TailTowns in your tweet as well.
After tweeting your message, come back here and leave a comment below that includes the link to your tweet. This contest will run through Sunday, August 5, 2012 11:59 p.m. PST. US entries only. Must be 18 years to win.
