We were talking with some friends recently about how to get your kids to understand what is actually in that packaged junk food they see at the grocery store. Their kids are older than ours so they shared a really great tip with us that I want to pass on.
If your child asks for any type of packaged, processed food from the store, let them get it. But before they are allowed to eat it, you have to sit down together and look up every single ingredient that is in that food product, what it is and all of the uses for it besides just as an additive in processed food.
If they understand what some of the ingredients actually are, they probably won’t be so interested in eating that product. Let’s all work on educating our kids about the benefits of whole foods, and the harm that is caused by processed food products.
