How to Use Musicals in Homeschooling

Sing-along shows and movies can be incorporated into homeschooling, much in the way we use Educational Shows & Documentaries in our homeschool planning.

Here are a few ideas you can implement with sing-along shows & movies.

  1. Create a dance. Kids can create a dance that goes to their favorite song and perform it for you. Then they can teach it to you for extra fun.
  2. Create a song. Often kids are inspired by the music they hear, so ask them to create a song for you and perform it.
  3. Write a poem. Maybe creating a song isn’t your kid’s jam, so ask them to write a poem.
  4. Write a report. I explain how we do reports from TV shows on our Educational Shows for Homeschoolers on Netflix post.

If you need a break from all of the singing and dancing, be sure to check out my lists for the Best Animated Family Movies and the Best Non-Animated Family Movies on Netflix.

If you’ve watched everything there is to see on Netflix, there’s always Hulu, Disney+, Curiosity Stream (a documentary focused online entertainment service that’s less than $20 per year) and Amazon Prime Video!
