Did you know that about 25% of people living in the U.S. have varying degrees of lactose intolerance (according to the National Institute of Health)? Having a lactose intolerance means your body can’t easily digest lactose, a natural sugar found in milk and dairy products.
So, more and more people are looking for lactose free dairy options. Organic Valley recently sent us samples of their new Lactose Free Whole Milk & Half & Half. These two new products are the only of their kind, joining Organic Valley’s Fat Free, Lowfat 1%, and Reduced Fat 2% lactose free milks for the most complete line of organic lactose free options.
Like all Organic Valley dairy products, lactose free milk starts as organic milk from cows raised on the pastures of family farms. Then lactase, a natural enzyme, is added to convert lactose into glucose and galactose – simple sugars that are more easily digested. This does the work some digestive systems cannot.
Organic Valley lactose free dairy products are an excellent source of riboflavin, calcium, vitamin D and protein. Organic Valley never uses antibiotics, synthetic hormones, toxic pesticides or GMO feed.
The flavor of both lactose free products is very good. Kaylee, who is 3-years old, poured herself a glass of the half and half (the carton is more her size) and declared it tastes just like raw milk! She is my funny little girl. And, of course, she insisted upon having her picture taken with the milk carton.
Organic Valley Lactose Free Whole Milk comes in a 64 oz. carton with an SRP of $5.69. Organic Valley Lactose Free Half & Half comes in a 32 oz. carton with an SRP of $4.69. Both products are now available at Whole Foods Market.
