Have you heard of the 80/20 rule? It’s also called the Pareto Principle, and it's something we decided to live by many years ago.
If you’re not familiar with the 80/20 rule, the premise is pretty simple. 80% of the time, we eat a super clean diet – organic, grassfed, free range, whole food that’s made from scratch.
The remaining 20% of the time, we don’t. We like to go out to eat, have junk food and indulge in dessert sometimes too. However, we still try to make good choices about what we put into our bodies.
The past few weeks have been pretty insane for us. We’ve been moving into a new house. And every day I find myself wondering where all of this stuff came from. Seriously, how did we accumulate all of this stuff? We’re still in the process of moving boxes and cleaning!
In the middle of moving, we had our 10-year wedding anniversary – a huge milestone we’ve very excited about. We decided we wanted to spend the day as a family, rather than having a date night, so we walked down to the park.
Sure enough, we hadn’t been at the park for 20 minutes before Zoë, our 9-year old daughter, fell off the monkey bars and broke her arm. She managed to break both bones just above the wrist, but she’s going to be okay. She won’t need surgery and she’ll recover fully. But she will be in a cast for a while.
That said, we’ve definitely been eating more on the 20% side of our eating style. But like I said, even when we’re making more relaxed choices, we still try to make good choices. And that’s how we discovered All-Natural Yummy Dino Buddies in the freezer section at our local grocery store.
If you haven’t tried Yummy Dino Buddies yet, your kiddos will love them. They are made from real boneless skinless chicken breast – not some mystery meat like so many chicken nuggets targeted at kids. One of the first things Zoë pointed out was that it was actual meat.
They are 100% natural and have no trans fat, no preservatives, no hormones and no artificial ingredients. And while I won’t claim the ingredients are squeaky clean, I will say that I think they make a great choice when we’re having a “20%” day.
Best of all, the girls love Dino Buddies. They like the way the taste and they love the fun dinosaur shapes. It’s cute to watch them try to figure out what dinosaurs they’re eating. There was a lot of giggling going on in the kitchen when we were trying Dino Buddies for the very first time!
And Kaylee was pretty proud of herself for helping me cook the Dino Buddies for her and Zoë! She is becoming quite a little helper.
Even when we’re done moving and things get back into a routine, I know we’ll have plenty of days where I just need something simple to grab and cook for the girls. Especially now that school is about to start back up!
Next time you need a quick and easy meal on a busy back-to-school night or a yummy after school snack that’s a better choice, give Yummy Dino Buddies a try!
