One thing we all get excited about is when our kids start developing verbal skills. It’s so nice when they can communicate their needs to us.
Some kids develop language skills at a slower pace and need some support in enhancing those skills. What better way to help your child than with fun games?
Super Duper Publications has been employing Speech-Language Pathologists to make language-enhancing learning materials for kids since 1986, so you know you’re getting the best tools out there when it comes to self-service learning for kids.
No matter the skill that needs improving, you can browse their website to discover hundreds of great products created by language professionals. Each game or activity lists right on the website what skills it improves, so you’re sure to get the item that works on the specific skill you would be hoping to target with your child.

Even though both of our girls have great language skills for their age, I’m always excited to offer them fun games that also enhance their knowledge. So, we were excited to receive the Pirate Talk Board Game and Auditory Memory for Short Stories Fun Deck to review.
Kaylee thinks it’s hilarious how Pirates talk, so that’s one of the reasons we went with that game.
But, don’t fear. The game isn’t all about talking like a pirate 🙂
Here’s an example of one of the game cards.
As you can see, not only is this game great for developing language skills, it’s also good for teaching your child to pay attention and focus on what you’re saying.
I chose the Auditory Memory for Short Stories Fun Deck because I’ve always had problems with auditory retention (I’m a very visual and tactual learner), so I wanted to see if I could head off that challenge early for the girls.
The stories are super short, and then you have a series of questions to ask about the short stories. I love how compact this deck is.
It fits easily in my purse and will be great for road trips. Zoë is right at that age where she thinks games like this are fun. Gotta make learning fun from the start!
