Every year I see posts flood my social media about energy efficiency. Everyone wants tips to reduce how much they spend on heating. The secret is to make sure your home is set up efficiently from the start.
When I was in college at Pepperdine, our dorms were heated with radiant floor heating. I remember thinking that it must be an archaic heating system – no one uses radiant floor heating! Oh how wrong I was.
Radiant floor heating has made a huge comeback thanks to Warmboard, and for all the right reasons.

Low Energy Consumption
Warmboard radiant floor heating panels are designed to allow the radiant floor heating system to operate at the lowest water temperatures. These lower water temperatures translate to lower energy consumption of natural gas, propane or electricity.
Heat Only Where You Need It
One of the really cool features of Warmboard is that you can zone your home based upon your specific needs. When a Warmboard radiant floor heating system is designed into your home, you get to decide which rooms receive how much heat at any given time. So if you have a guest room that is rarely used, it can be kept cooler. Rooms you use more frequently can be kept warmer. Thermostats are located in each zone and you can control them individually.
Warmboard can comfortably heat most homes using water temperatures between 80-108 degrees Fahrenheit. Many other radiant floor heating systems use water that’s heated in excess of 140 degrees, so you can realize a significant savings on your energy bill with Warmboard. In addition, lower water temperatures actually extend the life of the system, so it will last your longer.
Reduce Indoor Allergens
It’s well known that indoor air is 5-10 times more polluted than outdoor air. In the winter, we don’t open the doors as much, so protecting air quality is especially important. The Warmboard radiant floor heating system provides clean indoor air quality. There are no allergens or dust particles blowing into the room like you experience with forced air systems. And there’s no smoke or soot like with a fireplace.

Therefore, there is little waste when it comes to product purchase, development and shipment as the exact number of panels needed to cover your project are shipped to your home. The Douglas Fir veneers in a Warmboard-S Radiant Subfloor panel are harvested in Oregon in a manner that complies with the Oregon Forest Practices Act, which promotes sustainable forest harvesting, protects wildlife habitats and limits clearcuts.
