I love introducing our kids to new flavors and new meals. I try to make at least a couple of new dinner recipes each month.
Since the girls both love spaghetti with meat sauce (it took Zoë a while to get there, but now it’s one of her favorite dinners), I thought they’d like spaghetti with meatballs.
I followed McCormick’s recipe for Herbed Turkey Meatballs. I always like to follow a new recipe exactly as is, then adjust to my family’s tastes the next time.
The girls and I gathered all of the ingredients from the list on the McCormick website, which included basil, oregano, garlic powder, black pepper, sea salt, gluten free bread crumbs, eggs and ground turkey.
Then we set to work. The recipe was so easy to make that both girls were able to participate. Zoë beat the eggs and Kaylee mixed the spices, then they took turn mixed the spices and egg into the turkey. After that, the 3 of us formed the meatballs and put them in the oven. I was proud that they did such a good job!
I have found that whenever they help prepare a meal, they are more likely to enjoy eating it. And this meal was no different.
They both ate all of their meatballs and then went and “snuck” the rest of them off the pan and put them in their cute little bellies. The Herbed Turkey Meatballs were definitely a hit. Brian asked for me to make mini ones next time.
