Do you have a favorite holiday party appetizer? I love charcuterie boards. Come learn my tips and tricks for making a beautifully simple charcuterie board.

If you’ve ever been at a holiday party with me, you probably know that I like to hang out by the food. I have a deep love for finger foods, and one of my favorite things to indulge in is the splendid flavors found on a good charcuterie board.

I first fell in love with charcuterie boards when we lived in Uruguay. Cheese and salami were almost a daily thing to nosh on there. It was so inexpensive and delicious – there was no reason not to!

We brought that love back with us to the US and often snack from a charcuterie board that’s left out for us to graze on throughout the day. I also love making them for parties and holiday get togethers.

There’s no real secret to making a beautiful charcuterie board. Grab a few of your favorite cheeses, some salami and crackers and you’re all set.

However, if you want to really make it a hit, be sure to choose a variety of textures for your charcuterie board. I always use 2-3 different types of crackers and a few different textures of cheese.

You can add pate to balance the hardness of the salami. And garnishes like olives, artichoke hearts, roasted peppers, jams and hot sauces can make it even more fun.

I like using a slate charcuterie board. It’s a fun material because it looks great and you can use soap stone chalk to write the names of the different cheeses on it.

However, if you want to keep it really simple, which is what we often do, stick with the basics. You can’t go wrong with crackers, cheese and salami.

One of my favorite cheeses to add to my charcuterie board is Boursin. It’s so creamy and crumbly that is pairs well with almost any cracker. I really like it with super thin crackers.

The amazing flavors that Boursin comes in always wow our guests. Two of my favorites are Boursin Shallot & Chive and Boursin Garlic & Fine Herbs.

We can’t agree on which one of these is our favorite in our house, so both of them end up on our charcuterie boards often.

They both taste amazing and can be found in the deli cheese section of many retailers like Walmart.

In addition to delicious these flavors, you can also find some great seasonal flavors like these at your local retailer.

  • Boursin® Red Chili Pepper
  • Boursin® Cranberry & Spice
  • Boursin® Basic & Chive
  • Boursin® Cracked Black Pepper

Next time you’re creating a charcuterie board, be sure to pick up some Boursin cheese. You won’t be disappointed!

This looks delicious, Chrystal! At parties, I’m usually the one hanging around the cheese tray, hogging it all! 🙂 I know for a fact I’d be hogging this! 🙂 #clietn
