Family game night is one of my favorite times. The girls and I break out our latest game and sit down on the living room floor and just have an absolute blast together. There's something so special about just being on the floor together – all at the same level – it really brings us together and gives us a fun bonding time.
I grew up playing games with my family, and that's a tradition I have always wanted to pass on to my daughters. I am so happy that they enjoy playing games as much as I do! I hope family game night is a tradition that we can continue for many, many years to come.
We recently got a new (to us) game for our family game night – Hedbanz from Spin Master. Zoë will tell you that it's not new to her – she played it all the time before in Kindergarten – but it was new to Kaylee and I!
If you haven't played Hedbanz before, it's a quick question game of “what am I?” From the moment we started playing, we were full of laughs and fun. I love that it's such an interactive game and that there wasn't a single bit of fighting or over-competitiveness when we played.
So, how do you play? First, you hand out 3 tokens to everyone that is playing. Then, everyone straps on a Hedbanz headband and pops a card (without looking at it) into the headband.
Then they get to ask each player a question to try and figure out what the cartoon is on their card. There was lots of deep thought about what questions to ask. Fortunately the game comes with question suggestions in case you get stumped.
If they guess right, they give a token back to the bank. If they give up, they have to take an extra token. Whoever runs out of tokens first wins!
Here's where the quick part of the game in. You only have so much time to figure out what's on your card. Since Kaylee is only 5 (Hedbanz is recommended for ages 7 and up), we went without the timer on our family game night. As she gets more used to the Hedbanz game, we'll start using it. We had so much fun playing Hedbanz that we'll have to check out the rest of the games offered by Spin Master like Quelf and Would You Rather. If you're looking for a fun game to add to your family game night or need a holiday gift idea, Hedbanz is sure to be a hit. You can purchase Hedbanz and other Spin Master games at Amazon, Wal-Mart, Kmart, Target and ToysRUs.
Have you ever played Hedbanz on family game night?
