I love having a cup or two of coffee in the morning—it’s almost like a ritual. However, as I’ve shared before, I prefer to drink organic coffee. I’ve tried the brands readily available in grocery stores, but I was recently introduced to a new brand of coffee—Grounds for Change.
Grounds for Change is a certified organic coffee roaster specializing in 100% Fair Trade Coffee. Every bean they roast is Fair Trade Certified, Organic Certified, CarbonFree Certified (the first coffee in the US with this certification) and Shade Grown, which means the possibility of a real livelihood for coffee growers, a breath of fresh air for the planet, zero net carbon emissions from “crop to cup” and a healthy forest for migratory songbirds.
Passionate about operating as a green business, Grounds for Change has received a Washington award for Outstanding Achievement in Sustainability. They are also a member of 1% for the Planet and donate more than 1% of their total sales to various environmental organizations.
On paper, they sounded like a company I could really get behind. So, I agreed to sample their coffees and share my opinion. I received a gift pack containing 3 different varieties: 2010 Holiday Blend, Peru “Café Femenino” and Ethiopia “Yirgacheffe.” I was really impressed with the packaging!
I have now tried them all and can say that they are great! I recommend all 3 of them—I wish they were available at my local store. However, even ordering online, they are comparably priced to the national brands (like Starbucks and Seattle’s Best organic selections). And you’re supporting a company with a mission to be kind to the environment.
If you’re looking for a delicious coffee from a company that cares about the earth, check out Grounds for Change. They offer some really great gift packs that would be perfect for any coffee drinker as well.
If you place an order before February 28, 2011, you’ll even get 10% off all purchases with coupon code HK98!
I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
