Growing up, I spent a lot of time with my grandmother. She was a real estate broker and would take me on house showings with her from the time I was a baby. We were very close, and really enjoyed each other’s company.
Every year just after Thanksgiving, my cousins and I would go stay at my Grandma’s house for a few days to help her decorate her house. By the time we were done, there wouldn’t be a inch in sight that wasn’t decorated festively.
Her house was really, truly the most magical place to be around the holidays. She was just as excited for Christmas every year as we were – maybe even more than we were. I remember one Christmas, our phone rang at 4 am. It was my Grandma wanting to know when we were coming over.
As soon as we were done opening our presents at home, we’d always go over to her house and spend the entire day there. My whole family would stay up late into the night playing board games and eating baked goodies.
Christmas was always my favorite time of year. My Grandma passed away 3 years ago, and I miss her dearly. After my Grandpa passed away and their home was cleared out, my aunt set aside some of my Grandma’s Christmas decorations for me so we can have some of her spirit in our home this Christmas.
As I was going through them while the girls and I were decorating our Christmas tree, all of those wonderful memories flooded into my mind. I think the last time all of my cousins were together at the same time was after her service.
While Christmas will never be quite the same without my Grandma, I hope to make Christmas as fun and magical for my daughters as she did for me.
Preserving family memories is such an important thing. I know I love seeing my family history, and I want my daughters to enjoy it as well. Christmas is a great time for your family to gather old media and put them together to be preserved. Do you have old videos that would be better on DVD?
YesVideo is a great resource to help you transfer those old VHS tapes, camcorder tapes, movie film reels and 35mm slides to more modern formats. You can gather your entire family’s videos together to make a customized family DVD, or each family member can have their own videos transferred.
The transfer services offered by YesVideo are conveniently available at the photo counter of any Costco, Sam’s Club, Walmart and CVS pharmacy. You can feel safe and secure handing your precious memories over to YesVideo because they treat your memories as if they were their own. Their Memory Factory contains surveillance cameras at every stage, and digital copies of the transferred videos are archived for added security.
Home movie memories make a special and unique holiday gift. While orders typically take 3-4 weeks to complete, please allow extra time as the holiday season is a very busy time in the Memory Factory. Click here to learn more about holiday ordering deadlines.
