Stress. It’s a reality of my life. I am a mother of a 4-year old and a 6-year old and a wife. I blog professionally. I run a social marketing company that works with natural brands (no longer in operation). I do freelance writing in the medical technology industry and for websites like Earth911. And I am an essential oil educator.
Do you think I have enough on my plate? It’s no wonder my house is a mess and I have enough excuses for not working out to fill a novel. I’m really working on prioritizing what’s on my plate and taking care of my health so I can reduce the amount of stress I feel every day.
It’s not something that is going to happen overnight – but it is something that is going to happen. I have re-affirmed my commitment to taking care of me first. That sounds so selfish to me, but you know what? If I don’t take care of myself, how can I really take care of anyone else effectively? It has taken me several years to come to grips with that statement.
Over the last month, I have started working out 3 times a week (the three days that I enrolled Kaylee in preschool). I try to make time each day for personal development. And I working to re-connect with my creative side.
Taking on the task of caring for myself is another thing on my plate, but a very needed one. Over time, I believe things will fall into place, and I will feel less stressed as things work themselves out.
However, right now, I am constantly on – trying to keep up with everything. I admit that I feel overwhelmed a lot more than I’d like to. Exercising definitely helps, but there are moments when the anxious feelings get turned up and I need to focus.
So what do I do in those situation? I turn to my essential oils – specifically to my “Mama’s Stress Buster” blend. By no means am I recommending that if you’re on prescription medications for mental health issues that you should stop taking it and start using essential oils. That’s something you need to talk with your doctor about. I’m not a doctor, and I can’t make those recommendations.
However, if you’re someone like me that is not on any medications, but still get bouts of stress and anxious feelings, then this is an amazing blend to try. I usually start by putting it on my wrists then inhaling repeatedly. I often also apply to the soles of my feet and the back of my neck.
I am always amazed by how quickly it calms my nerves and gets me back into a place where I can think straight and get the things done I need to do. I have only use made this blend with one brand of essential oils, and have not tried a similar recipe using any other brand even though I no longer buy doTERRA oils.
If you give this essential oil blend a try, I would love to hear how it works for you.

Some people find that adding other essential oils to this blend makes it more effective for them. If you try the Calming and Grounding blends together and still feel like you need more calming effects, try adding other oils like Vetiver oil, Sweet Orange oil or Geranium oil.
