Before I had kids, I was a reading machine. I constantly had my nose in a book. I read at least one novel a week, sometimes even two! I absolutely love reading.
Once my kids were born, I had very little time for myself. Reading went out the window except on very rare occasions. Now instead of reading one book a week, it’s more like one book every few months. So sad!
My commitment to myself in the new year is to focus more on my health, both physical and mental. Reading is something that is very relaxing and enjoyable for me, so I plan to start reading more often.
While I have always loved the feel of a paper book in my hands, I recently gave reading on my iPad Mini a chance. I was surprised by how much I liked it! It is really easy to scroll through the pages and more convenient to stick in my purse than a book.
If you have a tablet, you can download the Kobo app for free, so you can always have your books with you on the go! The Kobo store has a great selection of books, and will even give you suggestions for new books and you can read reviews as well.
And if you don’t already have a tablet, the new waterproof and dustproof Kobo H2O is the perfect holiday gift. You can take it anywhere without worrying about accidentally damaging it.
You can use at the pool, the beach or even in your bathtub. I am far too afraid to take my iPad in the bathtub, so I’d love to have a Kobo H2o! It would be so nice to soak in the tub while enjoying a good read.
Are you making a resolution to read more just like me, but don’t know which book to pick up first? Kobo just released their first annual book report, outlining the Best Sellers for 2014.
2014 Best Sellers List
- Gone Girl – Gillian Flynn
- The Fault in Our Stars – John Green
- Insurgent – Veronica Roth
- Allegiant – Veronica Roth
- Divergent – Veronica Roth
- The Goldfinch – Donna Tartt
- Written in My Own Heart’s Blood – Diana Gabaldon
- The Rosie Project – Graeme Simsion
- The Husband’s Secret – Liane Moriarty
- Philomena – Martin Sixsmith
First on my list is the Divergent trio – Divergent, Insurgent and Allegiant! I recently watched Divergent and absolutely loved it. It’s a very rare occasion when a movie is better than a book, so I’m really looking forward to cozying up with my e-reader and digging into Divergent on my Kobo app.
