You don’t have to spend a lot of money to have great looking skin. You can create your own great DIY face masks, many with items you already have around your home.

It doesn’t have to be expensive or complicated, and making your own DIY face mask recipes is better for you than most things you’ll buy over the counter that contain iffy ingredients.

DIY face masks are good for regular cleansing and they also make a great idea for sleepovers, special occasions and mother-daughter bonding. If you’re looking for a great regular face-cleansing routine, you might want to try these favorite facials and see which one tops your list.

Here are 5 of the best DIY face mask ideas you can make at home:

1. Banana DIY Face Mask

Bananas help make a great, natural DIY home facial. Just mash up a medium-to-large size banana into a paste and smooth it onto your face. You can also mix the mashed banana with ¼ cup of yogurt and some honey for a great DIY mask.

2. Honey DIY Face Mask

Have you ever wondered why so many skin products contain honey? It’s a great, natural skincare product and you can create a DIY facial with just honey.

When used in its raw form, it’s even better for your skin and it has been known to help fight acne as well. Honey both cleans and moisturizes the skin.

If you want to create a pure honey facial mask, you don’t even need to add anything else to it. Just apply the honey (about 1 tablespoon works for the average face), then rinse it off.

Or try one of these honey based facial masks:

3. Milk DIY Face Mask

Milk is great for the skin but how can you bathe your face in milk without dipping your whole head in? You can use organic powdered milk with just enough water to form a paste.

Use this thick milk paste as a DIY facial mask. Coat your face with the mixture, let it dry completely, then rinse with warm water.

It feels great and you can repeat as often as you want.

4. Oatmeal DIY Face Mask

Oatmeal has long been known to be good for the skin. You can easily create an oatmeal facial mask at home. There are many different recipes for this and you might find you want to tweak yours until you find exactly what you love the most.

A good recipe we like is ½ cup water and 1/3 cup oatmeal mixed and allowed to settle for about 3 minutes. Then you add 2 tablespoons of plain yogurt, honey and a small egg white.

Mix it all up and then apply to the face and allow to dry. You will want to let it sit for about 15 minutes. Then rinse with warm water and see how great your face feels.

5. Strawberry Face Mask

This one is especially hydrating and the smell of strawberries will perk your senses, too. You’re going to need about 10 fresh strawberries, ¼ a cup of bee pollen, about 3 tablespoons of raw honey, 1 tablespoon of olive oil mayonnaise and some lavender essential oil.

The strawberries have Vitamin C which is great for your skin but they also act to exfoliate. The unique mixture of all of these ingredients together gives your face just what it needs to feel refreshed and clean.

All you have to do is combine all of the elements, apply to your face, let sit for about 20 minutes, then rinse with warm water. Your skin will feel very soft afterwards.

Now that you have these recipes for DIY home face masks, you can begin trying them for yourself. See how your skin thanks you when you try these great home facials.
