I am trying to get back in the habit of working out again. Once you break the habit, it’s hard to re-build again! Fortunately I enjoy working out, so getting back into the routine is something I greatly look forward to.
I recently discovered FuelYourBetter.com – a great resource for all athletes looking to up their training. On FuelYourBetter.com, you’ll find a wide range of training tips, nutritional articles, and recipes to help you be at your absolute best.
One thing I have to be conscious of when working out is how easily I get dehydrated. I recently discovered VEGA Clean Energy, which you can mix with water before/and or during your workout for an energy boost. I notice a difference quickly when I drink it.
Each scoop contains 80 mg of caffeine from green and black tea. It also has carbohydrates in it to sustain your energy and electrolytes to hydrate you. I love that it combines electrolytes with energy so I only have to use one product. It comes in 2 flavors: Berry Infusion and Citrus Iced Tea.
I’ve also been trying to get plenty of clean protein into my diet as well to support support muscle repair after workouts. I’ve been playing with Vega Clean Protein, a new premium plant-based clean fuel that’s available in Chocolate and Vanilla flavors. I love that it’s Non-GMO Project Verified and it contains no artificial colors, flavors or sweeteners. If you have food restrictions, it’s also gluten free, dairy free, soy free and Vegan Certified.
Each scoop of Vega Clean Protein contains 130 calories and 25 grams of protein in a complete, premium, plant-based protein blend from pea, hemp, alfalfa and pumpkin. It contains all of the essential amino acids, including 4 grams of BCAAs.
As much as I love protein shakes (and I do), they’re hard for me to take on the go. I’m not a huge fan of protein powder mixed with water so I like to fancy them up at home. So I’ve been playing with ways to make protein powder more portable.
That’s how I came up with this Chocolate Brownie Protein Muffin recipe. It’s a lot easier to grab a muffin, toss it in with my gym gear and head out than it is to figure out how I’m going to mix up a shake.
This recipe for Chocolate Brownie Protein Muffins is gluten free, dairy free and soy free. It does contain eggs, but other than that, it’s allergen free. It’s not super sweet, so if you prefer things on the sweeter side, you can add some honey or up the amount of palm sugar you add to the protein muffins.
