Do you have kids that love making easy Christmas crafts with you? They’ll have a blast making this DIY Mini Pinecone Christmas Tree Ornament.
My girls love getting crafty with me. Since we live in a forest, I love making nature crafts using things from our yard… like pine cones.
These Mini Pinecone Christmas Ornaments are one of the fun ideas we came up with for using the pine cones that fill our yard every year.
It’s a super easy Christmas craft for kids. It’s quick to make, so they don’t have to sit still for long.
If you don’t have local access to pine cones, you can purchase pine cones online that are specifically for crafting. The bonus is you won’t end up with a ton of sap on your hands like we get from fresh, unprepared pine cones.

Makes: 1 Christmas Ornament
Supplies
- Pine cone
- Mini pom poms
- Twine - or ribbon
Instructions
- Begin by deciding which poms you wish to use. An assortment of holiday colors looks great, or you can go for any color combo you wish.
- Add a dab of hot glue to the poms and place them inside the pine cone creases. Hold them in place until secure.
- Continue adding the poms one at a time until the pine cone is full. Allow the poms to dry well before proceeding.
- Cut a length of twine and curl it into a loop. Add some hot glue to the ends and press them into the top of the pine cone. Allow to dry. This will be the hanger on your pine cone ornament. Once everything is dry, your pine cone is ready for hanging. Add it to your tree for a festive but natural touch.
