If you’ve ever suffered from heart burn, you know how miserable it can be! I suffered from it horribly during my first pregnancy, and ever since then there are still certain foods that set it off.

In addition to calcium, the assorted fruit variety of Tums contains adipic acid, artificial and natural flavours, corn starch, FD&C blue #1 Al. lake, FD&C red # 40 Al. lake, FD&C yellow #5 Al. lake, FD&C yellow #6 Al. lake, mineral oil, sodium hexametaphosphate, sucrose, talc. I just don’t understand why you need all of those artificial ingredients and mineral oil in a simple antacid.
I was also anemic during my first pregnancy, and Tums are known to block the absorption of iron. So all of those iron pills I was taking were totally cancelled out. Yikes!
Since I’ve become more aware of ingredients and natural alternatives, I have started using natural remedies to manage episodes of heartburn.
My Favorite Heartburn Home Remedies:
1. Bentonite Clay
I encapsulate bentonite clay and take two capsules at the first sign up heartburn. It stops it right away!
2. Activated Charcoal
We just added activated charcoal to our medicine cabinet. we often reach for it rather than bentonite clay for heartburn.
3. Aloe Extract
A new one we’ve added to our routine is Aloe Cure’s Aloe Extract. I’ve heard for a while that aloe juice is super awesome for heartburn, but never had the opportunity to try it until I was sent some to sample. The first time I used it, it took away my heartburn instantly.
