Thank you to Best Buy for sponsoring this post about throwing a successful holiday party.
Fall is the kickoff of the holiday party season. There’s something about the weather cooling down that makes everyone want to start cozying up at home and celebrating together.
My husband and I have always been into entertaining. It’s something we’ve always enjoyed. He is super social, and I am a homebody, so it works well for us.
If your home is the destination of one or more holiday parties this year, check out these tips for throwing a successful holiday party.
1. Have a Clean Home
You can never get a second first impression, so ensuring your home is clean is step one of throwing the best holiday party. The most important rooms to be spotlessly clean are the kitchen and bathroom, but try to make sure your whole home is clean.
2. Spruce Up Your Seasonal Decor
If you don’t have a lot of fall decorations, but you’re on a budget, there are tons of easy crafts you can make with dollar store supplies. Check out my Thumbtack Pumpkin, Fall Luminaries, Wine Cork Candle Holder and Fall Leaves Bowl crafts for a few ideas.
3. Appetizers for Everyone
If you’re not serving a full meal at your holiday party, you’ll want to make sure to have plenty of appetizers on hand. A fun idea is to ask everyone to bring their favorite appetizer and have a pot-luck type party.
Some of my favorite appetizers to make for holiday parties are Spinach Dip, Caprese Skewers, Bacon & Herb Pine Cone Cheeseballs and Potato Skins. I like to have a nice selection that both adults and kids will enjoy.
4. Keep the Kids Entertained
We’ve always included our daughters in everything we do, and that includes any parties or get togethers we have. While our daughters enjoy conversing with adults, I know not all kids do, so it’s important to have some fun activities for them to do.
5. Always Have Clean Dishes
There’s one thing about parties that I’m not a fan of, and that’s the cleanup. While most of it happens after the party, there are always things that you have to keep an eye on at parties, and clean dishes are one of those!
Having an awesome dishwasher makes that so much easier. The Bosch 500 Series Dishwasher is the ultimate dishwasher for the holiday party season.
I usually hate running loud appliances when we have guests over. The Bosch 500 Series Dishwasher runs quietly (44 dBA) and uses 18 unique sound-reducing technologies, so you can run it without disturbing your party. I’ve heard that Bosch dishwashers are so quiet that sometimes you have to check the exterior Infolight® to even know they’re on.
The Bosch 500 Series Dishwasher is also super roomy and can easily hold up to 16 full place settings. The third rack adds even more flexibility with extra space for serving bowls, utensils or oddly shaped dishes.
You’ll know the dishes are clean too when you use the Sanitize Option, which reduces 99.9% of bacteria with a hot-wash rinse. That’s much more reliable that a well-intentioned guest hand-washing dishes.
The dishes can dry faster too with the AutoAir™ feature, which automatically opens the door at the end of the drying cycle. This simple action lets the fresh air in and the moisture escape for better drying results (compared to Bosch Dishwashers with PureDry). So you’ll have more clean dishes for guests faster.
There are no worries about leaks either with the 24/7 Aquastop® feature. This 4-part leak prevention system uses sensors to detect and stop leaks, and can even turn on by itself.

I hope these tips for throwing a successful holiday party are helpful. Here’s to a wonderful holiday party season this year, and every year.
