Make More Eco-Friendly Choices

Choosing reusable sandwich bags and wraps is a simple way to reduce plastic waste and make better choices for the environment.

Rather than buying them, you can make your own reusable sandwich wraps with velcro closures for your eco-friendly lunch.

Supplies

– 14" x 14” piece cotton fabric – 12" x 12" piece food-safe waterproof fabric – All-purpose thread – Wonder sewing clips – 1 package sew-on hook and loop Velcro strips – Sewing machine – Scissors

How to Sew Reusable Sandwich Wraps

1

Layer Waterproof Fabric On Cotton Fabric

Place right side of fabric onto shiny side of waterproof fabric. You should have a border of  cotton fabric on all 4 sides of  waterproof fabric.

2

Fold and Pin the Fabrics Together

Fold cotton fabric until touching the edge of cotton fabric, leaving the corner unfolded. Fold again until it overlaps waterproof fabric & pin in place.

3

Fold Fabric on the Diagonal

Take the corner of the cotton fabric and fold it down at the diagonal.

4

Fold the Corners Again

Fold over sides of the fabric at the corner just like you did in the last step.

5

Sew the Seam

Sew a 1/2" seam allowance around all four sides.

6

Measure and Cut the Velcro Strips

Measure and cut four 2” pieces of the hook (2 pieces) and loop (2 pieces) Velcro.
