Cinnamon Swirl Pancakes

Special items:

  • You will need something that you can squirt pancake batter out of. A small squeeze bottle of sorts or a large kitchen syringe would work well. You will also need a way to get batter into it like a funnel.


  • Get your griddle or pan started before mixing so that it’s heated up when your batter is ready. If using a griddle, set it to about 350 degrees F.
  • Mix all of the ingredients except for the cinnamon and nutmeg. Leave those aside for now.
  • Make sure that there are no clumps in the batter so that it works smoothly.
  • Reserve about ¾ cup of batter in a bowl and mix in the cinnamon and nutmeg well. Making sure that there are no clumps of spices left.
  • Place the spiced batter into the bottle or syringe that you are using.
  • Put the regular batter onto the griddle as usual, and then take your spiced batter and swirl it into the pancakes on the griddle. I used an old vintage mustard bottle to do this and it worked well to just squeeze it and move my hand around.
  • Cook the pancakes as you normally would and add your choice of toppings to them.

Side Note:

  • I also made a few pancakes with just the spiced batter, as well as some “swirls” by themselves to put on top of the stack of pancakes.
