Fusion Guard by MasterChef Cookware Review

There are so many different types of non-stick pans on the market. If you’ve considered pans with a non-stick ceramic coating, Fusion Guard by MasterChef has a cookware line that’s an incredibly great value for the price and function.

Best Type of Non-Stick Cookware

I’ve tested so many different types of cookware over the past several years. During one of the busier times in our lives, I decided to buy non-stick cookware.

I was sadly disappointed in the quality of every brand I tried. No matter how well we treated the pans, they always started to peel within 6 months, so I’d have to throw them away and start over.

It was such a disappointment each time I had to throw out cookware! Not only has the quality been less than desired, but traditional nonstick pans also use a coating that has been shown to have lasting effects on the environment and human health.

There are many newer types of nonstick coating that are being introduced that don’t have these same harmful effects. My research has shown that choosing a nonstick pan with a ceramic non-stick coating is the safest choice if you’re going to use non-stick cookware.

Best Value in Non-Stick Ceramic Pans

After tossing so many pans, I decided I wanted to try non-stick ceramic cookware next. I was gifted the 16-piece MasterChef Champions’ Collection Cookware Set in Gray (it’s also available in orange), which is so incredibly affordable that I honestly didn’t think I’d like it.

(spoiler alert: I loved it so much I became an affiliate for them, so I’ll earn a small commission if you buy through my links)

The set, which retails for only $189.99, includes:

  • 8-Inch Fry Pan
  • 10-Inch Fry Pan
  • 4 Quart Deep Sauté Pan with Lid
  • 1 Quart Sauce Pan with Lid
  • 2 Quart Sauce Pan with Lid
  • 5 Quart Stock Pot with Lid
  • 3 Premium Nylon Kitchen Tools
  • 4 Assorted Size Pan Protectors

I had paid up to $100 for one non-stick saute pan expecting the utmost excellence and been disappointed, so I didn’t think this set would last more than a couple of months. But I kept an open mind and kept testing this set in my kitchen over the past several months with all different types of cuisines.

My family immediately fell in the love with the cookware from the very first time we used it, but I didn’t think that feeling could last. I kept waiting for the non-stick coating to fail or for the pans to warp because of how lightweight they are. But in the 5 months that we’ve had the set, it has continued to impress us.

I was shockingly surprised to find that, out of the ceramic coated pans I’ve tried so far, it’s truly the best value. In the following sections, I’ll share more about what makes the MasterChef Fusion Guard pan set so awesome.

Best Features of MasterChef Cookware Set

Here are some of the features of the Fusion Guard By MasterChef Cookware that gives this collection of high-quality pots its stress-free functionality. The pros really outweigh the cons with this set!

Long-Lasting Durability

The pans themselves are made from solid-riveted cast stainless steel and reinforced titanium. Unlike pans with a flimsy aluminum core, these pans have a heavy gauge construction that gives them warp-free strength. I was surprised to learn that fact because they’re one of the lightest pan sets I’ve used.

Safe Ceramic Coating

All of the pans in the Fusion Guard line have a PFOA, PFOS and PTFE-free cooking surface that’s made from ceramic. I couldn’t imagine a ceramic coating being so nonstick, but it’s one of the best nonstick surfaces I’ve cooked with.

Silver Ion Technology

As part of the ceramic coating, this MasterChef cookware series’ unique silver ion Fusion Guard technology helps to provide antimicrobial effectiveness. What that means is that the silver ions help inhibit microbial growth in the coating of the pan and it helps prevent bacteria from breaking down the coating too.

I love that this functional cookware has that innovative feature. Just remember that you still have to wash the pans well… the coating won’t prevent food-borne illnesses. I love the focus on family-first safety that these pans provide.

Works on All Cooking Surfaces

The base of the pans is nice and flat and they have even heat distribution on all cooking surfaces, including standard gas, electric and induction cooktops. They also work with ceramic and halogen cooking surfaces, and they’re oven safe up to 400˚ F.

Easy Cleaning

One of the best things about these pans is that they’re so easy to clean. It means a stress-free cooking experience when you know you aren’t going to have to scrub!

All you need is a gentle sponge and warm soapy water and the MasterChef cookware easily wipes clean. Once and a while, if you turn the heat up too high, black streaks can be left in the pan from the hardened on grease.

I find that you can get all of that removed by boiling vinegar water in the pan then cleaning with a soft sponge and hot soapy water. Easy peasy.

Well Designed Handles

The stainless steel handles are covered in silicone ergonomic grips, which makes the pans easy to handle. The grips make for a stay cool handle too, which I think is a clever design for an oven-safe pan!

Functional Lids

All of the lids in this innovative cookware set are made from glass. Each glass lid has steam vent to prevent too much pressure from building up inside of the pan. The lids are also oven safe up to 400˚ F, but will be hot when removed from the oven, so be careful. I do put the lids in the dishwasher sometimes.

Cons to Fusion Guard by Cookware

There are, of course, a couple of limitations to a cookware set that’s priced so affordably.

Delicate Coating

While the ceramic nonstick coating really is quite innovative, it is also pretty delicate so you cannot use metal utensil with it. You can never ever scrub these pans with something abrasive or they’ll be ruined. And while you can put them in the dishwasher, it’s not recommended to preserve the lifespan of the pans.

Easy to Overheat

You have to be very careful not to overheat these pans because they conduct heat so well. Never leave them on the stove over heat without something cooking in them or they could be ruined.

No Cooking Spray Allowed

If you’re used to using a nonstick cooking spray, you’ll need to avoid that with Fusion Guard pans. It can become sticky and ruin the coating. Just use a little butter or liquid oil… that’s all you need for cooking that’s easy to clean up after.

Final Thoughts on Fusion Guard by MasterChef

Overall, this set of cookware is a really great value. It is ideal for people who don’t cook every day or who want something that’s easy to clean, but don’t care if it can go in the dishwasher.

I really didn’t think I’d like this set as much as I do. It’s well priced and can be a great addition to your kitchen. I truly love my Fusion Guard cookware set!
