I’ve been in search of the best weighted blanket for a few years now, so I was thrilled to have the opportunity to try out a Gravity Weighted Blanket. Read my Gravity blanket review to learn why it’s currently the one I’m enjoying the most.
Benefits of Weighted Blankets
I have always enjoyed the feel of a heavy blanket on me while I rest or sleep. If you haven’t tried one before, weighted blankets can be so relaxing to the nervous system! The deep pressure stimulation feels so nice on tired muscles after a long day.
Did you know that scientific studies have proven that weighted blankets are beneficial? Specifically, Gravity is the only weighted blanket that has been scientifically proven to improve sleep quality. They did an independent study of 1,000 nights of sleep (SleepScore), which showed that there are many benefits of using a Gravity weighted blanket.
Here are just a few of the results:
- 76% of participants reported falling asleep faster and feeling more rested when waking in the morning.
- 72% of people reported better, more restful sleep.
- 54.7% reported feeling less anxious and stressed.
While they got their start with a successful Kickstarter campaign, there’s a reason Gravity is the most well-known brand in the weighted blanket space. So, while I already had a handmade weighted blanket, I was really excited when Gravity Blankets sent me their faux fur blanket to review.
I love kicking back and relaxing under my weighted Gravity blanket so much that I became an affiliate for them so I could give you a closer look. I’ll earn a small commission if you order through my links, and that won’t affect the price you pay.
What Makes Gravity Blankets Different
There are a few features that set Gravity blankets apart from cheaper brands:
- Weight comes from fine-grade glass beads inside of the blanket rather than cheap plastic pellets
- Different options for blanket styles in a variety of sizes
- Various weight options ranging from 10 lbs to 35 lbs
- Single-piece blankets and blankets with a removable cover
- Great customer service with 30-day return window
My Gravity Weighted Blanket Review
While they have a wide selection of weighted blankets, I chose the Weighted Faux Fur Rabbit Blanket. It’s a lighter weighted blanket available in a single size of 10 pounds and measuring 48” x 66”. One side of the blanket is a plush, synthetic fur and the other side has a smooth, velvet-y lining. It has such a luxurious, cozy feel!
It has a one-piece design and is available in two different colors – white and grey. I like the ease of use of this blanket because it’s just one piece.
One of my favorite things about this blanket is just how soft it is. It really does feel like petting a baby bunny when you run your hands along it!
When I get under it, all I have to do is wait a little bit and I feel so relaxed thanks to the deep touch pressure stimulation it provides. I sleep with it often and find it helps me to fall asleep faster.
The one downside to it is that it’s not machine washable. It can only be hand-washed or spot cleaned with cold water and must be hang dried. While I wish I could simply toss it in the washing machine, I don’t mind the extra effort needed to maintain this blanket.
At first glance, I wasn’t sure how the Gravity blanket brand would stack up against the blanket I already had. But after just a bit of blanket use, I can see good reason to go with this trusted brand. I love my Faux Fur Blanket so much!
For even better sleep, I’m hoping to add a weighted sleep mask to my routine and a king size blanket to my bed!

Choose the Right Weight
If you’ve looked much at weighted blankets, you’ve probably noticed there are different weight options. So how do you know which weight to choose?
The ideal weight of the blanket will depend on the user’s body weight. My blanket weighs 10 pounds, but they have different weights all the way up to 35 pounds.
When choosing a blanket, the general rule of thumb is that it should weigh about 10% of your body weight. Of course, the ideal weight will depend on your personal preference. Most people prefer blanket weights ranging from 5-12% of body weight.
I have a 10-pound blanket because it’s about 10% of my body weight. You’ll want a heavier blanket if you weigh much more than 100 pounds, and you’ll want to look at lighter blankets if you weigh much less.
For example, if you weigh around 150 pounds, you’ll likely want a 15-pound blanket. If you weigh 250 pounds, you’ll want to look for a 25-pound option. If you have a child who could benefit from a weighted blanket, you’ll want something much lighter.
