I consider us to be a creative family. All of us have an interest in arts, crafts and music and we’re always creating new things in our home.
The girls absolutely love to be crafty and they also really love to help. Ever since they were little and would see Mommy getting creative, they would want to get involved too, and that hasn’t changed now that they’re pre-teens. So I have always loved coming up with craft ideas that we can do together.
Every Christmas, we make some new ornaments for our tree. I have a ton of clear globe Christmas ornaments, so every year we make new Christmas tree ornaments using them. There are so many ways for using clear ornaments that I don’t think I’ll ever run out of creative new ideas.
For today’s kids Christmas craft, we took a clear round ornament and filled it with sparkly tinsel pipe cleaners to create these fun kid-friendly ornaments. It’s even easy enough for young children to help with as long as you choose plastic ornaments instead of glass ornaments.
In addition to today’s tutorial for Tinsel Stuffed Christmas ornaments, we’ve shared other ways to use clear fillable ornaments too. If you buy in bulk and want more ideas, you can check out how to make Swirly Globe Ornaments, Galaxy Christmas Ornaments and Speckled Melted Crayon Ornaments.

How to Make a Tinsel Stuffed Christmas Tree Ornament Craft
- Begin by picking the colors of pipe cleaner you wish to place in the ornament. Snip the pipe cleaner into smaller segments. Aim to snip about 3 segments per pipe cleaner.
- Tuck the pipe cleaners one at a time into the ornament. Allow them to bend so they come close to the sides of the ornament. This way, you can best see the colors through the ornament. Keep stuffing using the various colors. Fill until the ornament is full and colorful. This is a great step for little hands to try as children will love stuffing the pipe cleaners in!
- Replace the lid on the ornament. Add a length of ribbon and tie into a bow for hanging. Your tinsel stuffed ornament is now ready to be displayed!
